Everyone's got a blog these days. It seems like everyone and their mother has something to say and the internet is the perfect place to say it. But what if you could actually make some money from all that? Believe it or not, you can actually use your blog to create income. Now, you're not going to get rich overnight, but if you play your cards right, you can certainly make some decent income on the side.
There are a few different ways to go about this. One option is to sell advertising space on your blog. If you've got a decent amount of traffic, then companies will be willing to pay you to promote their products or services on your site.
Another option is to sell products or services directly from your blog. If you've got a skill or service that people are willing to pay for, then why not sell it directly from your site? You can also use your blog as a platform to launch other ventures. For example, you could use it to build an audience for an online course that you create or a book that you self-publish.
The first step in starting a blog is to select a blogging platform for writing and publishing your content on. A quick search will show you that there are many different sites available that suit bloggers from all walks of life.
On most platforms, starting a blog is completely free, so find a platform that you can easily get the hang of and make life as simple as possible for yourself!
I like to release a blog a week, so every 6 weeks I research and create 6 blogs in one go and schedule them to be published .
There's nothing worse in the blog world than the pressure to suddenly create a blog on a Friday evening when you remember that you've promised your readership new content every Saturday!
When I research my subjects and titles I have a look on Google at other bloggers in my niche who are creating similar content and see if what areas of our content are currently doing really well.
I also regularly ask my audience where they need help and what content they would like to see.
So you've done your research and now you're sitting staring at the screen and you don't know where to start!
I always like to start by introducing myself and the topic, explaining why I think there is a need to share the information with people.
I then set out exactly what they can expect from the article.
I find lists are a really good way to get started if you aren't that confident creating copy. Just think about what your ideal client would like to see and offer as much value as you can within that niche.
Make sure you edit your blog and optimise it with keywords and good SEO before publishing. Many blogs also insert pictures to help break up the text.
In order to see success with your blog you need to get it out there! A great way to do this is via social media platforms and Pinterest!

If you have done all of the research that you needed to into your audience then it's only a matter of time before they start reading and loving your blog, be confident in your ability and share your knowledge. There are always people who can learn from what you know.
